Architectural Styles - Neo-Renaissance

During the 19th century, Renaissance architecture became extremely popular. Renaissance architecture was carried on as a hybrid of all its earlier forms; becoming Neo-Renaissance architecture. Most of Neo-Renaissance styling is highly influenced by various Italian styles. The Neo-Renaissance started in the United States and England around the same time. Instead of having strict guildlines like old Italian architecture, they borrow features from other styles (French and Flemish Renaissance periods). This gives the architect a lot of freedom when designing, but creates difficulty when outsiders try to classify their creation. Some of the most decorated and famous buildings across the world were developed during the Neo-Renaissance, many of them prominent structures including opera houses, government buildings and universities. Neo-Renaissance buildings usually include grand staircases, arches, courtyards and seemingly outside staircases (appear to be open yet have protective class around them).
